Safeguarding

Child Protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
Safeguarding the welfare of both children and vulnerable adults who come into contact with the church is a vitally important part of ministry.
We are committed to ensuring that our Churches are safe places for all.

Our PCCs have adopted the House of Bishops' Promoting a Safer Church Safeguarding Policy Statement, and the model Safeguarding Policy for parishes.

Our PCCs have appointed parish safeguarding officers.
They are responsible with the Priest in Charge for making sure that policies and procedures are followed to ensure that children and vulnerable adults are cared for properly.  As part of this they manage the recruitment of volunteers, including obtaining Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
Details of the identity of the safeguarding officers for our individual churches are found below.

Volunteering to work with children and young people
It is important that we know a little bit about those who volunteer to work with children and young people in St Mary and St Giles, so we ask that volunteers complete an application form and declaration form, and to apply for DBS clearance.
